Big Brother is watching

Forget cookies on your machine that track your online behavior. Google is out to track your physical visits. While marketers are going to love this, privacy advocates are probably going to be up in arms.

Real-Life 'Iron Man' - Article for the day 28 August

I have written about Elon Musk in the past. However, this headline just merited a full post to itself. I mean who can resist a title like

Here's More Proof that Elon Musk Is a Real-Life 'Iron Man'

The next one that came up was

Tesla outsells Porsche, Jaguar, others in Calif

Interestingly these seem more like marketing campaigns. At sometimes you are comparing brands
The swoopy electric sedan outsold all models from other luxury brands Porsche, Volvo, Lincoln, Land Rover and Jaguar

and at other times specific models
With 4,714 new Teslas registered over the six months, it even topped some established conventional luxury models like Lexus GS, at 2,298, and Audi A6, at 1,619

I haven't done a lot of research but in a state like California which enjoys sunshine through out the year and the Toyota Prius is the best selling car, this doesn't seem like as big a win as it is being made out to be. It seems more like a case of keeping the company and its founder in the media to build awareness.

I guess, there is no point building the best product in the world, unless you know how to market it. Given the number of things that clamor for our attention on a daily basis, good products might not just sell themselves.

Incremental innovation Vs Disruptive innovation - Article for the day 9 August

Quite a lot of people might have heard about Google's announcement for Chromecast. Well, if you haven't, don't worry. This little post will tell you all about why it is something to look out for.

Incremental innovation Vs disruptive innovation is one of those management concepts about is something a "New and Improved" version of an existing item or is something that totally changes the way we think about it respectively.

An idea can change a million lives - Article for the day 6 August

Idea Cellular came up with a slogan that "An idea can change your life". Economics says, innovation is the only way to sustainable improvement in the development of the country. This is definitely one of the most impressive ideas I have seen so far. A real problem being tackled by a tiny change in behaviour.

How do you leave the place a little better than you found it - Article for the day 5 July

Came across this talk by Elon Musk. I must say that I have seen a lot of TED talks but this one felt very different. Take your fortune and betting it on something you believe in, irrespective of what other people tell you the risks are. In other words - he lives up to putting your money where your mouth is.

Beating corruption through technology - Article for the day 4 July

With the United States celebrating it's independence day I thought a post on governance was pretty apt for the day.

Really impressed at how people are using modern day technology to reduce corruption and improve governance. Seems like that there is a lot of low hanging fruit with just a little political will.

Selling future equity in human capital to pay off present debt - Article for the day 3 July

A really interesting financial product. I wonder if the Indian laws would allow this. It would really encourage innovation when people are free from the burden of college debt.

Maybe folks going to the US for their B School education can take advantage of this.
