So Detroit has filed for bankruptcy. For those who think that government will always pay its dues and those who rely on government doles this is a good wake up call. When we have NREGA, Right to Food, and other programs that are being funded with huge budget deficits we need to be scared. Very scared.

Is big data headed towards the minority report? - Article for the day 20 July

So I came across this article in the Economist that talks about how predictive policing is becoming a part of various city policy tools. It is a very balanced article which also talks about how this should not end up in the future depicted in the movie "Minority Report". It also has a few words of caution for the overzealous social media folks.

Keep calm and carry on - Article for the day 18 July

Continuing with a money article today, I think this is easier said than done. But to those who have it has given brilliant returns. I have a financial adviser who makes sure I stick to this. Thanks to him, I was investing more when the market breached 10,000 on its way down from 20,000 in March 2009.
